Mitavite’s Rice based feeds tried and tested by leading UK riders
One of the quickest ways to work out if a feed is the real deal is to have it tested at equestrian sports elite level. As the demands of competition and travel increase, so does your horse’s requirement on a comprehensive, top quality feeding program.
There is no better way to put a feed under the spotlight than to feed it to a horse in these circumstances.
When we introduced our rice bran based feeds to the UK in 2006 we did so with the confidence gained from supplying our feeds for sport and race horses for more than 15 years in over 20 countries. Some of these countries face the challenges of a harsh climate, making it necessary to import every aspect of the horse’s diet, including fibre.
When we brought our feeds into the UK in 2006, we made a conscious decision to work with some of England’s leading riders to demonstrate just how a Super Premium rice based feed can support elite level competition and make a noticeable difference in a horse’s condition, stamina and overall wellbeing.
Riders such as Michael and John Whitaker, Clayton and Lucinda Fredericks, Mark Todd, Tim Price and Jonelle Richards embraced the concept, changed their horses on to Vitamite Cool Performer and have never looked back.
These riders all run large teams of horses, competing at the highest level in their respective disciplines and place high demands on their horses in terms of fitness and travel.
The test of a diet is its ability to provide a nutritional package that allows a horse to perform at its best when the prizes are being given out on the 3rd, 4th or 5th day of competition and then back up again at the next competition.
This is when an inferior diet will let you and your horse down.

Vitamite’s range of Rice bran feeds presents a whole new feeding philosophy.
Traditional equine diets rely on grains to provide energy in the form of starch that is converted to glucose during the digestive process. Diets high in grain starch are not a natural diet for a horse and as such can contribute to and cause a multitude of problems, including caecal acidosis, tying up, subclinical laminitis and in extreme cases founder. Although these problems can be managed with correct feeding, it is well documented that energy derived this way causes a rapid rise in blood sugar, much as a chocolate bar will in children. This sugar high is inevitably followed by a dip in blood glucose, which can result in lethargy and reduced performance.
Low GI Cool Performer is very low in starch, providing energy through high levels of naturally occurring oil in the rice bran. This low GI energy lasts longer and promotes a much more reliable performance, essential in all equestrian sport.
