WESTON LAWNS HOSTS
VITAMITE COOL PERFORMER SIX YEAR OLD QUALIFIER
The final qualifying round of the Vitamite Cool Performer Six Year Old Championship took place at Weston Lawns on Friday 18th July. Fifty five horses took part with eleven jumping triple clear rounds to qualify for the Final to be held at the BSJA/Scope Festival of Show Jumping at Staffordshire County Show Ground in August 2008. Qualifying combinations are as follows:-
Laura Renwick on Ms J Claridge’s Vernon G
Lucy Henderson on Mr A Bailey’s Luna IV
Laura Renwick on Mr D Perry’s Oz De Breve
Emma Slater on Mrs E Slater’s Ruxton Viking
Carron Nicol on Valentino XIV
Daniel McGlynn on Mrs R Gredley’s Voske II
Allan Birch (Junior) on Springs Equestrian Partnership’s Condor Van’T Rozenhof
Laura Renwick on Mr D Lynch’s Obelix Z
Daniel McGlynn on Mrs R Gredley’s Cleopatra VI
Jackson Reed-Stephenson on Mr M Dawson’s Majical II
Tim Stockdale on Mrs L Stockdale’s Sancer Turval (previously qualified)
The course tested the six year olds sufficiently though most showed a wealth of jumping ability. The tricky push on to the penultimate obstacle, the water, to then steady back to jump the last fence cleanly caught a few out. Not a problem for Laura Renwick who had a busy clear first round on the grey to make the 13th clear through to second round. Emma Slater, a late entry, was riding for all she was worth on chestnut gelding Ruxton Viking to pull off her place in the final.
Summer almost forgot to shine through until later in the third round but competitors seemed undeterred at this busy show and popular midlands venue on super surfaces and competitor friendly atmosphere. Breezy conditions only slightly spooking horses in the prize giving. Each of these horse and rider combinations qualifying for the final of the Vitamite Cool Performer National Six Year Old Championships at BSJA/Scope Festival of Show Jumping in the August received a bag of Cool Performer feed and a share of the prize money.
