Vitamite partner rider Tim Price

Tall, dark and willowy, the affable New Zealander is currently based in the UK near Marlborough Wiltshire with his partner Jonelle Richards, who also competes in eventing. A rider since he was a small boy, Tim Price’s ambition is to represent his country for a medal in the Olympics. He made the journey over in 2003 to be based in the UK, the home of top eventing, to go for the big time with his then top horse ‘Desamoray’. Together they travelled to compete across England, Ireland and Europe with some wins at advanced level and completed Badminton and Burghley.

‘That was it’, comments 29 year old Tim, ‘Having done well in New Zealand, I realised I needed to get together a team of good horses and owners plus work tirelessly to make a real impact in the sport where the standard is so high’…. ‘Everything is on my side to produce the results – determination and drive, a good string of horses coming through, great trainer Bettina Hoy, family support and the correct fuel – Vitamite feeds’. Tim fed his horses in NZ on Mitavite, Vitamite feeds for 15 years and naturally continues to do so in England.

For relaxation, Tim enjoys a beer with friends and a game of pool or round of golf. Like so many riders he loves the adrenalin thrill of skiing.

Tim’s best loved section of eventing is the cross country. He proved his prowess in spring 2008 amongst the top names in the sport at Saumur, in France's Loire Valley where world famous fellow countryman Mark Todd made his Olympic selection secure on Gandalf by finishing 6th. Tim riding Vortex finished ahead in 5th, just behind fellow Kiwi rider Andrew Nicholson.

Hot from good runs at Longleat, see Tim Price compete next at Barbury 4th – 6th July 2008 - his local event, where he will be one of record entries this year, joining competitors including Zara Phillips, who also has multiple entries, as the nations prepare for Hong Kong.

Tim Price’s string includes ‘Croftlea’ prefix named horses bred and owned by his family in New Zealand, promising 4 year olds making their debut in eventing competing successfully in young horse classes, through the ranks with ‘Rock Solid’ a winner at Novice level now upgraded to intermediate, similarly ‘De La Mere’, ‘Konundrum III’ and of course the advanced gelding ‘Vortex’. The charming grey 3 star gelding ‘KEYFLOW’ following injury lay-off makes a welcome comeback this season.
